  • Show us your (non-political) memes!

It has occurred to me that it might be a good idea to have two different threads... This one is for pop-culture memes, pictures of cats, general shitposting, etc. Bonus points if it's gay af. Friendly reminder that memes are public domain. Sharing is caring!

Thank you for not including cats (or pictures of ‘cute’ puppies).

I’m old and grouchy. Or depressed, anxious, and cranky. Something like that! ;-)

If I had posted that third image outside the political section on that other site, I would have been punished. ;-)

No notations of the locations on the Tumbr post, but I’m pretty sure the road is in Australia.

I’m thinking some of these accommodations might have been due to local regulations protecting old-growth trees. Others were probably so the owner could preserve part of why they originally purchased the property. The apartment(?) building in the first picture of the other post is certainly more interesting than if they’d removed the tree (although it looks like they did quite a bit of pruning on it anyway).

I had a knock-off pair of dressy shoes with soles like that in the Seventies.
Nobody sells them any more because the ‘research’ they used was flawed.
(They took footprint impressions from barefoot natives on a sandy beach.)

Even though they have a terrible reputation and less-than-attractive forehead ridges, Cardassians are still sexier than Kardashians.

                  I agree wholeheartedly.

Fun fact: The actor who played the Cardassian tailor/spy Garak on Deep Space Nine intentionally played him as if he were gay and in love with Dr. Bashir (or at least wanted to get in his pants) even though this was never explicitly stated in the script. Producer Ira Steven Behr has later commented that he wishes they'd made Garak explicitly gay and that, in spite of having one of the first same-sex kisses on TV, he feels that DS9 failed at LGBTQ representation for not taking the opportunity to explore that.

Because talking about gender and trans rights on a queer website isn't political.

That cartoon reminded me of a song…

In the middle of Jesse Hultberg’s ‘Constant Thing (I Was Raised a Straight Boy)’ there is some dialog beginning about 2 minutes in. An adult is talking to two new parents and asks whether “Jesse” will be dating boys or girls. The parents respond, ‘Whatever makes Jesse happy.’ (I know it’s not the same, but it is a somewhat related topic.)

I did a search for Jesse Hultbeg on DuckDuckGo and found a couple links. I was surprised to find out that he’d been in Longtime Companion as the lead singer of a band that sang a chamber-music version of YMCA! On his self-titled CD, he included a non-disco version of ‘If I Can’t Have You’ (written by the Bee Gees, but a #1 hit for Yvonne Elliman in 1978).

I’m not certain which figure most accurately represents me. They both seem appropriate for different reasons (I’m convinced some people think I have horns and cloven hooves). Fortunately, it looks like I wouldn’t need to choose between the two. ;-)

During FramelineXX San Francisco International LGBTQ+ Film Festival (its full, official title with the XX representing the precise iteration – 2021 being the 45th annual event), the Castro Theatre’s pair of restrooms become ‘All Gender’ to lessen congestion in one while the other is empty. Even before official Frameline signs were posted beginning a couple years ago, the restrooms were shared. I think they should post an ‘Express Line’ sign for those waiting for the urinals on the side of the doorway opposite those facilities so waiters can easily see vacancies.

This site doesn’t like this file, so I’m posting a link instead. It’s a video about water. The UAE filters ocean water to create drinking water. It’s a very expensive process.

Global Warming is causing more severe droughts in Africa, the Western US, and Australia. Recycling, reusing, and conserving water has become more and more vital. Transporting bottled water halfway across the world is wasteful and pointless.

I personally use a filter on my kitchen sink instead of buying bottled water. My one exception is the gallon jugs that are part of my emergency preparation efforts. After a major earthquake, we could be cut off from our normal water supply for months. I also have a LifeStraw Family bulk filter for when my jugs of water run out.
